Millions of Americans are caregivers, be for a friend, parent, child or other family member. The Ridgefield Library is dedicated to provide support, information and resources to help with this labor of love. Check out the resources listed here, as well as the collection of print materials that the library has available for check out.

Medline Plus LogoMedlinePlus is an online health information resource, free to the public to access, as it is a service of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the world's largest medical library, and a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Caregivers page has a variety of information and further resources to help caregivers find support and keep themselves healthy.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON AGING

National Institute on Aging LogoThe National Institute on Aging (NIA), one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of National Institutes of Health (NIH), leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. NIA is the primary Federal agency supporting and conducting Alzheimer's disease and related dementias research. The Caregiving page has a variety of resources to help caregivers care for themselves while continuing to care for a friend or family with a serious health condition.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

U.S. Department of Veterans AffairsThe U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) provides a Caregiver Support Program (CSP), which offers clinical services to caregivers of eligible and covered Veterans enrolled in the VA health care system. The program’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of family caregivers who care for our Nation’s Veterans, through education, resources, support, and services.

OFFICE ON WOMEN'S HEALTH

Office on Women's Health LogoThe Office on Women's Health (OWH) was established in 1991 within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). OWH coordinates women's health efforts across HHS and addresses critical women's health issues by informing and advancing policies, educating health care professionals and consumers, and supporting innovative programs. As upwards of 75% of women tend to be caregivers, the Caregiver Stress page offers an assortment of ways to manage caregiver stress.
