Ridgefield Library Circulation Overview

The Ridgefield Library does not charge overdue fines on most items checked out at our library, with a few exceptions indicated in the chart below.

  • Most items will automatically renew 1 or 2 times, unless an item has has been requested by another patron. See exceptions below.
  • If your items are overdue by more than 7 days, the replacement costs will be billed to your account, at which point you will be unable to check out digital or physical items until the overdue items are returned or payment is made.
  • Patrons are responsible for any lost or damaged items. Replacement costs vary by item.
  • Items from other libraries obtained through Bibliomation or Interlibrary Loan may not be renewable. Contact the Circulation Desk for more information about a specific item.

Requesting Materials Unavailable at the Ridgefield Library

Bibliomation Consortium

  • Ridgefield Library is part of the Bibliomation consortium, a group of Connecticut libraries that share materials with each other. If materials are unavailable in the Ridgefield Library catalog, select “Bibliomation” at the top of the “Library” drop-down menu at the top of the catalog screen to request the item from one of our consortium libraries. These items will be delivered to the Ridgefield Library and held at the Circulation Desk.

Interlibrary Loans (ILL)

  • Materials can also be requested from other Connecticut libraries outside of the Bibliomation consortium. Please contact our Interlibrary Loan Coordinator for assistance at circulationdesk@ridgefieldlibrary.org. Interlibrary Loan items still accrue fines of 50¢ a day, with no maximum
