FAQs

How to get a library card?

  • Ridgefield residents may apply for a free Library card online or in person at the Circulation Desk. Please bring proof of residency in Ridgefield (a valid driver’s license, utility bill with street address, etc.) when picking up your new Library card.

  • Children through age 17 may have their own card, with (proof of Ridgefield residency) and signature of a parent or legal guardian.


What can you use your library card for?

  • With it you can borrow any of our more than 100,000 books, DVDs, audiobooks, magazines, and other materials, and even access the holdings of many other libraries.
  • It also allows you to use our computer resources, including remote access to many valuable research tools and downloadable materials.

Are you a Connecticut Resident? – You have Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges!

  • Your local library card may be used at most public libraries in Connecticut though a state program called borrowIT CT. Books borrowed from other libraries may be returned to the Ridgefield Library.
  • Residents of other Connecticut towns may borrow items from the Ridgefield Library by showing a valid card from their hometown library. Patrons of non-Bibliomation libraries will also need to show an ID. An expired card must be renewed at your hometown library before your visit.


Fees

  • Ridgefield Library cards are free for Ridgefield residents.
  • Out of State family cards cost $75/year.
  • There is a $1 fee for replacement of a lost card. For minors, a parent or guardian must approve a card replacement.
