Services: Book a Proctor

Exam Proctoring Services

For some virtual or distance learning classes, exams given to students need to be monitored by a professional, in this case a librarian. The proctor will sit in the room with the patron as they take an exam to ensure that they adhere to the guidelines of the exam or test.

How to Book a Proctor

  1. Contact the Adult Services department, by either calling at (203) 438-2282 ext. 201 or emailing referencedesk@ridgefieldlibrary.org, with as much notice as possible.
  2. Staff will communicate with the professor or teacher ahead of time to go over guidelines, talk about supplies allowed during the exam and receive the test.
  3.  If a laptop is needed for the exam, the patron must advise staff before the appointment if they will supply their own or require a Library laptop.
  4. Staff will confirm next available appointment.

What to Expect

  • Check in at the Adult Services Desk before your appointment.
  • Depending on the needs of the exam, you will be set up in a Study Room or the Donofrio Family Technology Center.
  • You will take the exam or test during the allotted time while the staff member approved by the testing authority will remain in the room as a proctor throughout the exam.
  • When finished, staff will send the completed test to the professor in whichever manner the professor and staff have agreed upon beforehand.

Contact the Adult Services Department at referencedesk@ridgefieldlibrary.org or by calling (203) 438-2282 ext. 201

Fees will be determined based on length of exam.
